About the Speaker

Stephen A. Dickens is an attorney and the Vice President of Medical Practice Services at SVMIC. With over three decades of experience, he is a trusted advisor to physicians and practice executives on a wide range of organizational issues,
including leadership, governance, strategic planning, operations and human resources.

Stephen is a sought-after speaker and author on these topics at both state and national conferences. His career spans 15 years in executive roles within medical practice, hospital, and home care settings before joining SVMIC in 2008. He is a
Board-Certified Medical Practice Executive and a Fellow in the American College of Medical Practice Executives.

He has held several prestigious positions, including Past Chair of the national Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) and Past President of the MGMA Financial Management Society, Tennessee MGMA, and the Tennessee Association for Home Care. In 2024, Stephen was honored with the national MGMA Lifetime Distinguished Achievement Award in 2024 for his contributions to the field.
